How To Install Drip Edge Without Removing Shingles
Installing drip edge on existing roof
My roof was installed without a drip edge. I want to seal the builder gap likewise as have a baste edge considering I remember they are beneficial. Has anyone done this work before that can offer some communication? I'm thinking I may demand to remove some roofing nails to go the drip edge underneath the felt and get the shingles away so I can nail it down.

Definitely get a nail gun for putting it on, or a stapler. It'll be a lot easier to lift the edge of the shingle and popular a fastener in with a gun than to try to hammer it in.

I only did this about a calendar week ago, lifted the shingles at the edge enough to slide the drip edge under then I was able to get a smash in on peak at the corners of the roof, but for the rest I but nailed it in from the front and it seems it will agree up merely fine. Took perhaps half an hr to practise about 20 ft(should take washed it years ago).

If your roof has any underlayment (tar paper or ice shield) you volition have to get the drip edge underneath this. If the water ice shield cannot be lifted, you can run another sparse strip of water ice shield at the elevation of the drip border (this could be hard, but without it h2o could run underneath the drip border).

Thanks, one suggestion was to pull the staples from the underlayment, probably fourth dimension consuming but worth it to go it nether there.

for some reason when I had my house re-roofed the contractor took off the old drip edging and didn't supercede information technology. and then now I'thousand faced with the same problem. I was thinking about using construction adhesive or even face nailing to avoid lifting and perchance tearing the shingles to nail under them.
